Our wellness team has a highly trained staff that includes registered nurses (RN) and licensed practical nurses (LPN). This team is available 24 hours a day to ensure residents receive continuous support and care. Our wellness director, an RN, supervises our wellness team. We have a restaurant-style dining room, café and pub. Our dining room serves restaurant-style meals on white linen tables, the café has snacks and complimentary drinks such as tea and coffee and our pub has a full-service bar and casual dining options. General FAQs About Senior Living

What is senior living?

Senior living refers to a range of housing and care options for older adults. These communities are tailored to support independence, comfort, safety and social engagement. Senior living is about more than having a worry-free and convenient place to live as you age; it’s about having a supportive environment where you can thrive socially, physically and emotionally.

What is assisted living for seniors?

Assisted living offers seniors help with daily tasks while they maintain as much independence as possible. It’s ideal for older adults who don’t need full-time medical care but do need assistance with activities such as bathing, dressing, managing medications and preparing meals. In most assisted living communities, staff are available around the clock to provide support and respond to emergencies. Communities also offer social activities, transportation services and on-site amenities like fitness classes and dining rooms.

What’s the difference between assisted and independent living?

The main difference between assisted living and independent living is the level of support provided. Independent living is ideal for seniors who can manage most daily activities on their own but want a maintenance-free lifestyle with access to amenities and programs. Assisted living is designed for seniors who need help with daily tasks but still desire an engaging life and some independence. Both offer private living spaces and community benefits, but assisted living includes more hands-on care.

How do I know what senior living services are needed (for me or loved ones)?

At Cordia, our wellness director visits each potential resident to complete an assessment. This helps our wellness staff get a better understanding of each prospective resident’s needs. We can then decide jointly whether assisted living or independent services (including concierge or independent living) are the right option. We can also determine what personal care services are needed. If regular extra support with daily tasks is needed, like dressing, mobility support or health monitoring, assisted living is likely the best option.

Who qualifies for assisted living?

Seniors typically qualify for assisted living if they require consistent support with daily living tasks but are medically stable and do not need the full-time care that nursing assistance would provide.

How do I choose the right senior living community for me?

When choosing a senior living community, consider the level of care needed, the location, the cost and the overall environment. Visit several communities to compare services, staff friendliness, programs and more. Ask about amenities, dining options, activity schedules and medical support. Ultimately, the right community should feel safe, comfortable and well-suited to your lifestyle and health needs.
